How Precision Compliments Art with Elizabeth Scott Design Group

For a dining room project in Lake Forest, Illinois, the design approach was rooted in careful curation. Envisioned as more than a place to gather, the space was designed to feel collected, layered, and art-forward. Every element was considered to push the artistic eye while maintaining balance and harmony. Lighting was treated not as a finishing touch, but as a defining architectural feature. The hand-blown glass fixture was selected not only for how it illuminated the room, but for how it framed the view as one enters the space, immediately setting a tone of quiet drama and refinement.
Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting has long been a trusted resource for our design team, valued for its ability to elevate interiors through architectural presence and craftsmanship. Having specified Fine Art for more than a decade, the designers consistently return to the brand for its exceptional detailing and material integrity. Each fixture feels intentionally designed to be noticed, yet never overpowering, bringing a sense of depth and permanence to a space.
The lighting selection process began with a clear priority: hand-blown glass. From there, the team focused on finding a multi-level composition that would complement the scale of the dining room while introducing movement and visual intrigue. From there, Elevate was a standout choice. The final fixture feels sculptural; its layered elements transform the room and become a key to the harmonious art-forward approach of the space.
“The sculptural, suspended-in-motion feeling of this fixture turns our client’s dining space into an experience rather than just a place to sit. More than a beautiful dining room, it becomes a destination—the kind of space where people pause, look up, and feel something the moment they walk in.”, shared Elizabeth Scott.
Lighting ultimately became the element that shaped the experience of the room. The fixture’s presence introduces anticipation and artistry, quietly commanding attention and transforming everyday moments into something more memorable.
One particularly rewarding moment came during installation, when each individual glass element was placed with precision, responding to both the dining table below and the surrounding sightlines. The flexibility of the Elevate Collection —its individually suspended glass components and customizable configuration—allowed for thoughtful, hands-on placement. This level of intentionality ensured the fixture felt seamlessly integrated, balanced, and perfectly at home within the architecture of the space.
