The May REPORT

Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood. Says Paul: “Layer your lighting with floor lamps, table lamps, and wall sconces to create a warm, ambient glow. Dimmer switches are a great addition, allowing you to adjust the brightness to mirror the tranquil ambiance of a hotel suite.” Peter Yera, Director of Design and Development at Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting, whose lighting has graced the ceilings of top hotels including the St. Regis, advises on how to recreate the hotel look: “Incorporate slightly oversized pendant lighting consisting of interesting shapes such as circles, orbs, flowers, tubes or waves.” He says to add drama by installing a pendant light over a bathtub or above a bed or choose statement pendant lighting when you first enter your home, as first impressions are everything.
